February/March
Daytime temperatures are creeping into the 40's and water is on the rise as well. Midges will start to show up stronger by the week until mid March when they will be in full swing. Expect sporadic Baetis mid-day until April 15 or so when you can depend on them showing up in great numbers. Streamers will continue to produce when fish are not looking up as well as nymphing. This is a great time of year to bring big fish to the net and enjoy the mild late winter weather. Call to book your next guided trip and cure the cabin fever early! 435.491.0242
The Fremont River is nestled in the heart of south-central Utah. High atop the Fishlake National Forest is where you will find it’s headwaters and the area is home to wild cutthroat, rainbow, brook and brown trout. As you descend the higher elevations, the Fremont River brown and rainbow trout are more prevalent. The lower sections are located between the famous Boulder Mountains to the south and Thousand Lakes Mountain to the north. We have access to miles of private water on the Fremont River as well as other neighboring streams and spring creeks.
Flyfishing Utah's Boulder Mountains will offer you and your guide seemingly unlimited lakes with monster brook and cutthroat trout. Other off the beaten path streams and creeks make southern Utah a destination you will not soon forget. There are also thousands of acres of irrigated pastures, native grasses and supplemental cover crops which are home to Pheasant, Chukar, Quail, Turkey and Grouse. Our guides have been fly fishing and hunting this country for many years and would like to invite you to experience it for yourself.
Fishlake is a high alpine lake (elevation approximately 8,848 ft) located in the Fishlake/ Southern Wasatch Plateau region of south-central Utah and is what the Fishlake Mountains are named after. It lies within and is the namesake of the Fishlake National Forest.
More importantly, the neighboring streams to the lake are Sevenmile Creek and UM Creek which downriver form the headwaters of the Fremont River. Sevenmile produces large quantities of Brook trout in the 6-10 inch range and UM supports a healthy population of re-introduced Colorado River Cutthroat from 6-16 inches. Tiger Trout can be found as well and some may reach or exceed 20 inches, but they are very wiley and hard fighting bruisers.
